How much will it cost me to send my kids to Private School?

Back to Home
There are many pros and cons to consider when deciding if your child should attend a public school or a private school. Ultimately, the decision is up to you and your family's preference, but typically two key deciding factors are cultural diversity and cost.

Over the decades, private schools were pigeonholed as lacking cultural diversity.  Contrary to this outdated stereotype, today's private schools and their teachers and students are vastly diverse, providing a rich sense of culture and a chance for your child to discover first-hand, different customs, traditions, philosophies and languages, as well as international cuisine and art. At the Toronto Prep School, our student body and staff proudly reflect our multicultural city, from our middle school grades straight through to the high school levels.

The matter of cost of taxpayer-supported public schools versus private schools funded through tuition, fundraisers and donations. When considering private school for your child's education, it's important to consider the benefits the tuition fee provides.

At the Toronto Prep School, our tuition fee is usually just under $20,000. For that, your child receives:
  • A MacBook Pro laptop or iPad, equipped with specified educational software
  • Athletic Association fees
  • One year GoodLife Fitness Club membership
  • Extended after school programs and Saturday Club study programs
  • An English journal
  • Their school yearbook
  • A deluxe school photo package
Your child also receives:
  • Smaller class sizes with a better student-to-teacher ratio
  • Security and quality
  • An abundance of extracurricular activities and after school programs

Smaller Class Sizes

At the Toronto Prep School, our classes have a maximum of 16 students per class – that's more than half the number of the average public school class size. As there are fewer students in a given class, our teachers a better able to give your child more of their undivided attention.

Security

"Security” not just in terms of environment, but also in terms of the quality of education, extracurricular programs and school trips. Parents feel secure in knowing that with private schools, they can expect a certain level of quality will not only be met, but also enforced.

Extracurricular Activities

The Toronto Prep School offers an expansive range of extracurricular programs, events and activities. From our orientation camp designed to acquaint students, to our sports teams and school clubs – all of which help boost self-esteem and build friendships. Whatever your child's interests may be, there are plenty of options from which they may choose.

The advantages and opportunities that come with being a private school student are endless, but it essentially boils down to one question. You have to ask yourself, what is the value of your child's education and future, because deciding to enroll your son or daughter in a private school is an investment in their future.
